God will make a way
where there seems to be no way

In
short, I am a simple, ordinary woman. I wear many different hats throughout the course of my days. Truth is, it is not who I am that makes me unique, but rather Who I serve. I am just another ordinary woman, but I serve an EXTRAORDINARY God. My heavenly Father continually takes the broken places in my life--in me--and makes them whole again. And when God restores something, it's always better than brand new!

The trials and tribulations of life can make us feel as if we are alone in a desert wasteland, but the truth is that God never leaves our side. He is right there, waiting. Waiting for us to call on Him. Waiting for us to get out of His way. Waiting for us to acknowledge our need of His saving grace. He longs to bring refreshment to our parched souls. We have only to ask Him. Sounds simple, but it is often the hardest part. I speak what I know, for I have learned this truth the hard way. In fact, I relearn it sometimes daily. The art of surrender is a learned art, and I am still very much a student.

But nothing is ever wasted in God's kingdom. What the enemy intends for our destruction, God uses for our good. I have seen this time and again in my own life. My hope and desire in writing--in sharing my life with others--is to bring a word of encouragement to another life, is to share some of the things God has taught me, in order that my words might be like a refreshing pool in the wilderness of someone else's desert.

Mountains and Me...

From Glory to Glory

I love mountains. I live on the Gulf coast, so I rarely get to see them. God is everywhere, I know, but I feel a special communion with Him when I’m in the mountains… a peace and well-being like no other place.

Mountains hold a spiritual significance for me, as well. Special times with the Lord are often referred to as mountaintop experiences. Matthew 17 describes a time when Jesus took Peter, James, and John his brother up a high mountain. Verse 2 reads: “He was transfigured before them. His face shone like the sun, and His clothes became as white as the light.” There are times right here in my sea-level location where God allows me a glimpse of Himself that makes me feel as Peter, James, and John must have felt when they beheld Christ’s glory right in front of them. It is an awesome experience.

By their very existence and geographical detail, mountains create valleys between them. There is no way to get from one mountaintop to the next, except to pass through the valley between. Sometimes I find myself wandering in a valley, lost in the wilderness, traipsing around and around the base of a mountain, trying to find my way. Life has sent me up and down and around many mountains in my time ~ Mt. Parenthood, Mt. Submission, Mt. Addiction, Mt. Authority, Mt. Identity, Mt. Judgment, Mt. Molestation, Mt. Promiscuity, Mt. Rejection, and Mt. Surrender, to name a few. Just as God meets me on the mountaintop, He is always with me in the valley. Though the mountaintop is a glorious place to be, I find that it is in the valley that I learn the most from God.
